create free product option in shopping cart?

  • I am posting here because there is nowhere I can find on the plugins forums where to post a new topic. This is a problem right across www.remarpro.com. So here goes, perhaps someone can direct this query to the appropriate forum?

    I want to create an option for buyers on my bookstore page – that with every 3 books purchased, they get 1 free book. The free book is also for sale at the normal price if the buyer just wants 1-2 books.

    So I am wondering if I can create an option in Customs Fields or similar, where when the person gets to the Woocommerce check out, that it recognises 3 books are being purchased and sends a message or popup to indicate that a free book is available to choose?

    At the moment I have a clunky way of explaining it that is probably too much reading for some buyers.
