• WordPress is installed in the ROOT folder of the website. I can upload and active plugins and access the settings option if one exists. However, if I go to the Manage Plugins page and attempt to “edit” any of the plugin, I see the following error message.

Sorry, can’t edit files with “..” in the name. If you are trying to edit a file in your WordPress home directory, you can just type the name of the file in.

Two bogus factors in relationship to that error.

1 – The link does not appear to have a “..” in it:

    https://example.com/wp-admin/plugin-editor.php?file=akismet/akismet.php

2 – There is no option to enter the name of the file.

Thanks for the pointer. Unfortunately, I could not find a solution to this specific issue in that blog.

My site is working fine. Everything else works, including the plugin setup options under the Settings section. The only thing not working is the Edit option show for each plugin under the Manage Plugins section. (I do my file editing through the site’s content management tools, bypassing WordPress.)

However, more troubleshooting has led me to believe that is may be theme related, even though I would expect the theme to be ignored while using the Dashboard.

I’ve known some themes cause some problems in the Admin/Dashboard area.

Hi I am having the same problem and sakshale and can not find out much of anything on it. I am using a studiopress theme which i had heard were good.
    what can i do
