    Hiya…

    Looks like the API key’s working fine – the admin console fetches the mailing list name ok, and everything’s saved correctly…

    However in the form when I submit an email address (with the T&C box checked) I get the “Oops, something went wrong” generic message.

    I inspected the page and there was nothing in the Network tab giving me a HTTP error, and nothing awry in the console.

    Any ideas?

    Do you have any other plugins installed that offer MailChimp integration of any kind?

    Nope… it’s a more or less empty site, hosted at SiteGround.

    There’s 2 other plugins which I disabled both of and still got the issue.

    Have added some logging, but not seeing anything meaningful as yet.

    Any ideas what I should try?

    Please double check your required fields in MC list settings. You’re just sending the email here, there’s no FNAME.

    Ah, OK that’s done it – it didn’t occur to me as I’ve “inherited” this MailChimp setup from someone else.

    It’s a shame the plugin only shows an “Oops, an error has occurred” message and not anything more useful – and also that there’s no info text on the Mailchimp integration screen reminding the user to check their MC config for required fields.

    But – we got there in the end. Many thanks.
