Monster Dominates the Dashboard

    With the latest update, Monster Insights has taken it upon themselves to dominate the dashboard.

    You have assumed priority–taking a “top-of-page” and “full-span” presence in the dashboard.

    Monster Insights is a convenience. I can get all the information it provides–and far more–by going to my Analytics account.

    It has now become an inconvenience. And I have a very strong dislike for plugins that assume control of my dashboard (to put it mildly).

    If the dashboard widget is not returned to user control, I will delete MI from my sites and those of my clients. I will not install it on sites for new clients. And I will be vocal in letting people know my issues with the plugin.

    How did this ever get approved??

    Hi there,
    It sounds like you accidentally set the dashboard widget to be in the expanded mode (we didn’t change anything about the dashboard widget this release). There’s an icon at the upper right of the widget that’s used for that (it looks like 2 arrows — I’ll take a screenshot of it when I get to a computer).

    You can use it to unexpand it (or the x button next to it to hide it altogether if you want).

    Hi there,
    So in the expanded view, the icon indicated here is the one that’s used to move it between expanded and contracted mode: https://cloud.supportally.com/270b9f9e5686

    You can also hide the widget as the bottom most option in the gear icon to the right of it, or via screen options at the top right of the page.
