• Ok so I developed a WordPress site.

Right now I just hard-coded in a Google search form on each page.

Is there a good Search plugin that I can get for WordPress which will Search my site and not go to a seperate site such as Google for my results.

Here is the link to my site, please let me know if this is possible.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Thanks samboll,

Have you ever used the Search Everything plugin, this looks what Im wanting as most of my stuff are pages and how would I implement it into my theme, I would like it to be exactly where the Google Search is on my current site…

    Thanks

    yea – it works well
it just replaces the default search option in your theme so it shouldn’t change anything about the positioning unless you modified it from the theme

Well this is a custom theme and originally someone else was working on this so I guess he removed the search option I presume and decided to hard code the Google search bar in so I’m not sure how to implement the WordPress search bar and hardcode it into the specific spot I want it. Could you please let me know how I would go about this?

Also thanks fro helping me and telling me in my previous thread when I was having issues moving the site to the root directory.

I suppose you need to see if it is hard-coded in the theme’s sidebar.php
    if so, remove the code
install the plugin and configure it in your dashboard

another possibility is he’s using a widget for the search but it looks hard-coded

Well the Google search is hard-coded into the sidebar I know that as the guy who began working on the theme was not too knowledgable with WordPress.

So if I remove the Google search code from my sidebar install the Search Everything plugin how would I go about placing it in the sidebar?

I would just like to know this before going in and doing all of it just to make sure it does not ruin the site as its already been launched, I just want to make a better search for the site without using a Google one

Ok I looked and the theme doesnt support Widgets says no sidebar is defined does this mean I am out of luck with putting the Search bar on the side, he definetly messed it up cause the actual sidebar is the home page content information and the right hand side of everything are all templates and using different templates for each section is it still possible to hard code the WordPress Search into the right hand side without messing up the theme, which would mean I would have to hard code it into each and every template he created since the templates are the right hand side.

Hopefully there is a way to do this ??

    Thanks Gangleri,

But we are not going to now make the site widget ready, which means basically redoing alot of it to make it support Widgets all I’m hping for is an answer if you can hardcode the WordPress Search/Search Everything plugin into the side bar that is currently on the site.

Thanks for the link it will be useful in the future.

Look around a bit, all these things are in the docs.
