• Hi there,

Would it be possible to add the feature to remove the private messaging restriction for certain roles?

When using the restrict by admin, I would love an option to select from the current set of WordPress roles for who should be immune to this subscription. This would help for non-Admin moderators or editors to effectively support members.

  • Yes, that would be great. Because sometimes a Moderator needs to write an USER without “being friends”. ??

How did you get to work? I can’t see the link as described on plugin page.

I never got it to work and ended up removing the plugin.
If this gets added I’ll try it again.

Yeah, same here. Had to use BuddyDev, they have a plugin called “Buddypress Message Privacy” for $19 that does the same thing. Here is their plugin: https://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-message-privacy/

Thanks for the share. Unfortunately this doesn’t do exactly what i need. I want to require users to be friends before they can message – we’ve had a few instances of a spammer registering and spamming a bunch of users before we could shut down their account, so want to put more barriers in their way to the initial spam

Welcome. But this plug in does exactly what you need (I wanted): users can restrict that ONLY “friends” can contact them via private message ?? Also, there are many other plug ins I like that limit spammers access to website functionality…keep digging around (some cost $ while other are free) – like BuddyPress Messaging Control (free), or others like BuddyBlock (by PhiloPress $29, but so worth it), BuddyPress Lock Unlock Activity (free), BuddyPress private Message Rate Limiter ($19), etc.
