MULTIPLE COPIES FOR MEDIA UPLOAD

  • Is it normal that when I upload an image file via dashboard/media in my cpanel I have multiple copies/sizes created automatically? For example, if I upload imageA.jpg (800×600 – 40kb) I get a copies such as imageA600x400 (30kb) , imageA300x200 (25kv) and so on…. Please notice the sizes indicated are just an example of what happens…. Any ideas?

  • Yes. That’s completely normal and expected. WordPress creates all of the thumbnail sizes that are set in the system when the image is uploaded. There’s a few pros and cons of doing it this way, but that decision was made too many years ago now.
