• Dear Thomas,

We have a question regarding your recommended set up for “Dynamic Remarketing in Google AdWords” via your plugin.

We have followed the set up in this excellent & simple guide on your support page:
    https://gtm4wp.com/how-to-articles/how-to-setup-dynamic-remarketing-in-google-adwords/

Unfortunately, we receive now in Google Ads manager the following error report:

“Your campaigns can’t tailor dynamic ads based on user activity when your audience source doesn’t send the required parameter. Make sure that the required parameter is being sent correctly.”

Looking at the detail of this error report we see the that these 3 x parameters receive hits:
    – ecomm_pagetype
    – ecomm_prodid
    – ecomm_totalvalue

However, the following parameters do not receive hits:
    – categories
    – content_name
    – currency
    – event
    – event_category
    – event_label
    – google_business_vertical
    – id
    – post_id
    – post_type
    – search_term
    – shipping
    – tags
    – tax
    – value

When we use ‘Preview’ in Google Tag Manager (GTM) and visit our site, we can see ‘Current values of the Data Layer’ under the tab ‘Data Layers’. Here we can see many variables that could be matched to the missing parameter above, e.g. currencyCode

How can we add them to your recommended set up on Google Tag Manager?
    – Do we set each one of them up as a ‘variable’?
    – Do we simple add the new variables we crated to the ‘key’ under tag ‘Google AdWords – Dynamic Remarketing’?
    – Do we need to adjust the ‘trigger’ you advised to create for variable products (Event – gtm4wp.changeDetailViewEEC)?

Many thanks for your help on this.

    Kind regards,

    Pairfum London

    Hi,

Google Ads’ own remarketing code is now by default the Global Site Tag and it expects more parameters for dynamic remarketing.

The guide I’ve created on my website uses the older Google Ads remarketing tag (that is actually loaded by the Global Site Tag as well).

In my experience this is still working fine.
I will do my best to provide an updated guide so that other dyn remarketing parameters can be utilized as well with the new tag but I will need some time to find the most convenient solution that does not need coding by plugin users.

I opened a ticket for this to make sure this change is added into the plugin:

    Hi Thomas,

    Many thanks for the update.

It would be fantastic, if you could update your guide to include the other dynamic remarketing parameters.

Remarketing is such a vital aspect of Digital Marketing now.

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Kind regards,

I can confirm that I also need help with the exact same issue…

Configured everything and even used two feed managers for Google Merchand but I get the same error within Adwords.

Actually, GTM doesn’t seem to be sending not even ecomm_prodid in my case…
