• I recently used the LDD Directory Import extension to upload about 3,000 listings. The listings are very simple with only titles, phone numbers, emails, and very short subjects and descriptions. No images or website URL’s.

I had to try a few times before I finally got it. I discovered that the titles must be different on each listing. If more than one listing has the same title, the import will be very slow and there will be errors.

But now I have a new problem. When viewing category listings there are paginated pages. I need to use pagination because I have so many listings. The problem is that there are extra paginated pages that are being displayed which are empty of content. When clicked the page gives a 404 error.

For example, the category may only need 5 pages but 15 are created. The last 10 pages are empty and give 404 errors when clicked.

    How to fix? Thank you!

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I missed the email and didn’t know that you requested the link. If you click on the next paginated pages they give all give 404 errors.

Please try resetting your permalinks to see if this clears up the issue.

I changed the permalinks to default settings then saved changes. Then I changed the permalinks back to post-name and saved changes again. Then after clearing the cache and refreshing the page, the problem is still there. I think this is what you meant by “resetting permalinks”.

Unless you have a solution, my plan is to delete all of the listings and try uploading them again with the CSV import addon. I don’t really want to do that because it will require lots of work. Many of the listings have the same title, so I have to temporarily change those titles before the import and then correct the titles manually after the import. Maybe things will work correctly the next time.

Some of the listings are already showing in Google searches so I hope that I don’t need to do a bunch of 301 redirects after re-importing them.

Or I could hire someone from Fiverr to edit the CSS and hide the extra paginated pages. I do not know CSS so I can’t do that myself.

I still like your plugin, but this has been a big headache for me. Basically I have just given up on it for now and have been ignoring the issue. But I do need to fix this somehow.

Do you have any ideas or ways that you could help?

What a hassle. I would have saved more time if I did NOT buy the addon. The addon wasted my time and caused me more wasted efforts than if I just did it manually.
