• A few days ago we got an email from our hosting company saying we’d gone past our CPU Limit (5.5%) and if it continued, they would block us from our hosting. The CPU Limit has only spiked since our new website, https://chicklitreviews.com, was moved over onto the hosting site. My dad’s sites have never had CPU Limit spikes.

I assume the spike is because of WordPress. As advised I installed WP-Super-Cache and that has done the job for the past 2 days but yesterday we had another spike and it hit our 5.5% limit.

The other plug-ins we have: WP-Revisions & Woopra Analytics.

What else can I do to lower the CPU usage of the site? Should we use a different CMS?

    Thanks!

  • If it is just spike for a second or two then your host should not deactivate your site. Generally hosts suspend the site if the web site is continuously using high CPU usage for a minute or two. If they block just because of spikes I suggest to change host at the earliest.

These are the figures for Friday:

    CPU Time – 1925.68s
    Execution Time – 35598.41s
    CPU Usage: 5.57%
    Average Memory – 1.80mb
    Processes – 937

    Is that good or bad?
