Can plugin put a featured image on Homepage?

    I’m currently running the free WordPress theme Twenty Eleven on my blog. Twenty Eleven theme does not support featured images on the Homepage (only on pages, not posts). Can this plug-in provide a solution that would allow featured images to replace the first picture in the post that now shows on the Homepage? If so, can you please advise how that’s done?
