The category bit that they use as a landing page for their directory looks to be a custom coded solution. The Enhanced Categories addon can be configured to display as a list and the shortcode can be used to place it on a separate page instead of displaying it above the directory which is the default.

On their page after a category is clicked, they are using the cMap template to display the entries.

I hope this answers you question, please let me know.

    Hi Steve
Thanks to the addon it now shows the directory list, but when you click a category get following message ” Error 404: Page not found” why is that?

Please navigate to the WordPress Permalinks settings admin page. Remove the index.php from your permalink structure. This will make the structure compatible with Connections and make your site URLs more SEO / user friendly.

I hope this helps, please let me know.

From what I can tell, it does not appear that the [connections] shortcode is on your directory page. It needs to exists in order to display the entries.

I hope this helps, please let me know.

You could use the Enhance Categories extension. It does have a shortcode which can be used to place it on a separate page. You configure it so it does not display above the directory and then use its home_id option to set the page ID of the directory so the links resolve correctly. If you choose this route, you should disable the category filter on the cMap template.

For search, you could use the Search widget from the Widget Pack. The Widget Pack adds a feature which make it so you can use the included widgets as shortcodes.

So, you could add that above the Enhance categories shortcode.

Hope this has thoroughly answered your questions!

Create a second page. Put only the [connections] shortcode in its content and save.
Look in the browser’s address bar and find the page ID WordPress assigned the page.

On the page where you inserted the categories shortcode add home_id=X where X is the page ID that you just created.

Here’s a link to the shortcode options for the categories shortcode.

Hope this helps, please let me know.

ps. make sure you set the page with the [connections] shortcode as the directory home page.
