    Hello WordPress Community,

I’ve just finished attempting to upgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.8.4, but the site doesn’t seem to recognize the new files. When I go to my Dashboard, it behaves as though the new files were never uploaded. At the bottom, there is still a message saying “Your WordPress 2.3.3 is out of date. Please update.”

Has anybody else experienced this? Can you offer any help?

    Thank you,
    Adam

  • 2.3.3 to 2.8.3 is big leap and you gona end up with a non functioning blog or a messed up one at the least. The upgrade process is to upgrade in increments of the major releases this will in turn bring your database upto date with all the changes.

Thanks for the fast response, ZGani.

Turns out I made a dumb mistake and was updating a previous installation of my site – not the live site. This explains why I wasn’t seeing any changes online.

I agree that 2.3.3 to 2.8.4 is a very big leap, but I’ll be sure to back-up properly before diving in again. Luckily, the site is pretty simple and doesn’t use many plugins, so it should be pretty straight-forward.
