Homepage

Hi there,

If you want your home page to have your latest posts, you need to set it in Settings > Reading. You’ll see the “Front page display” option, which is where you can set it.

the box saying “your home page displays” your latest posts is ticked.
That’s right now isn’t it?

But now how do I create an home page that still links to my latest posts?

That option will make it so your home page is your latest posts.

If you want to build a static home page with content which links to your latest posts, you need to set that option to “A static page”, and then select the page you want to be your home page.

Then you can create another blank page (name it “Blog” or whatever), and set that empty page as your “Posts page”. That page will now become your blog with your latest posts.

Sorry, I’m confused.

I’m using the free version (does that matter) and by default my homepage shows the 10 latest posts, but I haven’t got a page named “homepage” that people can click on and get back to the original 10 latest posts.

So that’s not a static page is it, surely that’s just the default homepage?

So how do I set up a homepage to link to my default “10 latest posts”
I don’t really want the static page, or need it do I?

To set up a link to your posts page, you can go to “Appearance > Menus”. Open your primary menu, and then on the left, you’ll see a “Pages” box. Click “View All” and you’ll see a “Home” link at the very top.

If you add that link to your menu, it will link people to your home page (with your posts).
