• Hello,

Today someone sent me apparently an email via a CF7 Form (and it definitely wasn′t me) via https://www.virtuelles-homestaging.de .

But I didn′t get an acutal message, instead I got a “return to sender” email stating the following (i put some “notes” in it) :

“This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
    Error

As the site is freshly released only I wrote some test emails so far.
But the strange thing is… the email address that is mentioned in this “return to sender” sounds like an actual email address using a name but with a missspelling. But I don′t know this email address or this person.

    Any idea what happened here?
    I′m quite confused.

Why do you think this is connected to Contact Form 7?

I think without CF7 the only reason could be that I sent an email to this guy that was then returned. But I didn′t send anything.

I don’t think so. You would see a header like “X-Mailer: PHPMailer 5.2.22” if this message was sent via Contact Form 7 or other WordPress functions, but what you actually have is this:

    X-Mailer: Open-Xchange Mailer v7.8.4-Rev54
