• I enjoy WordPress and all the work you guys put into this program but your so-called support is non-existent… at least for me. I realize there’s a lot of posts here. So SOMEBODY has to be getting help somewhere.

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong but I can’t get even a “piss off” or ANYTHING. I’ve been making help requests for literally months here and NOBODY f’n EVER responds to anything.

I’ve reacted like this before unjustly out of frustration on other forums that offer “support” but I don’t think I’m over-reacting this time.

I mean I can’t even get a reply telling me to shove it? I just don’t understand this one.

But either way, I realize this is all voluntary and I do deeply appreciate the work that’s put into this program but I think I’m not going over board by being totally disappointed with the support forum.

This is feedback. What do you mean “what do I suggest?”

seriously… i tried contacting the .com but they blew me off.

Yeah, you’re not the first to complain about the so called support here.

I can’t even get a reply to this thread.

you dont like free support, you can always pay for it.

not to rude, smug, or anything like that, but it kinda goes with the territory.

and you know, there is always google. I answered your latest question after a < 1 minute google search. rely on your your self-help skills, and improve them, if need be.

I get that this is all free and voluntary as I’ve said more than once.

My problem is not with the support here, my problem is the lack of it. You’re the first person to respond to ANYTHING I’ve posted here in over a year.

I do appreciate your reply in any case.

roughkut, im fed up too, (complete newbie to WP) i mean i’ve asked several very basic, very easy questions just requiring a simple YES or NO answer and cant even get that. not even a “Hey, sorry i dont know”.

i mean it seems to me like the more experienced web people get all the answers and newbies who know nothing, get no help at all. The langauge used here to explain how to do things, is like Hebrew to me.
This Codex help pages are no help at all, as it doesnt show HOW to do the things they tell you to do…or WHERE to go to do the fixes….I have no clue what php, css, validation and most other abreviations mean. I try to read up on it, but its a foreign language. Im starting to see WP is NOT for the beginner.

I eventually figure alot of things (not all) out on my own, but it takes days for me to figure out the smallest issue that probably normally would take 30 minutes or less to do.

    Prediction:
Even when you guys figure out wordpress and how to use it well, you won’t come back and contribute support.
People are registering on the average of every 22 seconds. We have a few mods and like 20 folks that contribute regularly to support – you do the math.
So be a solution in the future.

    its easier to complain.

damned if you, damned if you dont. easier to just dont.

nice to finally have a numeric on how busy this forum is. People think its just soo easy and we all ought to be sitting around eating doughnuts and unswering questions all day.

oh, and then there are the cannibalistic few of those 20 ..shhhhh.

Maybe you should start with video tutorials for newbies on PHP, CSS, like phpvideotutorials.com or lynda.com, or check out a several WordPress alternatives.

I <3 wordpress and as an intermediate programmer I understand that when you are already creating free tools for users that support is really if you have the time to or not. I greatly appreciate those who take the time to develop these wonderful additions and really don’t complain if they don’t help out with them 100%. Now that being said, I have found the support on the wordpress forums to be crappy. I personally usually look under every stone before posting here because I rarely get a response. I work a lot with oscommerce and I love their forums! They have a great community and Ive received countless amounts of help there and have given too. WordPress just doesnt seem to have that kind of community, its sad because the software is fantastic.

IM new to all of this also.Theres one thing i do good and thats to use google search.I mean if i have computer issues or wordpress problems i use google and i fix any problems that i may have. Now i did ask some noob Questions and i got a responce very fast and i apreciated the help.Another thing i do is read alot on here.Alot of question you may have may already been answer. So just look around to see if you can find your solution on here.IF not try and google your problem, take care Val.

When you realize that there are few support here, there are 3 things you can do:

    1. Complain

    2. Leave and never come back

    3. Be the additional needed-support

    Your wisdom defines your act.

Note: You don’t have to be a programmer or know much about WP to contribute.

    Cheers ??

Honestly, you guys can get defensive if you like, but the bottom line is I haven’t gotten a SINGLE response in over a
year until I did complain about it in this topic. Now all of a sudden I’m getting all kinds of replies. Isn’t that funny? Seems there is some time to respond after all.

There’s been a few people that agree with what I’m getting at. Like it’s been beat into the ground already, I get it, it’s free support, there’s not a ton of developers around, people can’t be bothered and so on. But I have a right to be disappointed too.

I take this forum as a commitment to support, whether it’s free or not. I run a free website too. Maybe it’s just me, but I stick to my commitments even if I cannot help my visitors. I don’t get all defensive and start going on about how my time is voluntary and I’m paying out of my pocket and not try to help.

I’m not upset because nobody can HELP me. I’m upset because I DON’T EVEN GET A RESPONSE AT ALL… period.

Like I said, and I’ll keep saying, I enjoy WordPress and greatly appreciate the time put into the development. But I have a right to voice my disappointment with the support forum. If you don’t like this or can’t understand it, then I’m sorry.

I’ve pretty much given up on getting actual help, now I’m just doing what this forum is for and giving my feedback.

i dont think anyone that’ replied has gotten defensive. theres no reason to — we dont have an obligation, its not a job, threes no expectation, so there’s nothing to get defensive about.

You got replies here from me because its another one of those “easy to reply to” threads — thats why.

    Furthermore,

…but the bottom line is I haven’t gotten a SINGLE response in over a
year until I did complain about it in this topic.

    Hyperbole.

You say that as if you have a regular posting history that spans a year. You dont. You registered a year ago, asked 2 questions and didnt post again for 10 months.

And also, you HAVE gotten replies.

You want to be disappointed, feel free. Thats on you, not anyone around here.
