• Hi,

Is there anyway to have the plugin not output title attributes on the images?

I’m guessing it was implemented this way due to the “accessibility” argument that goes around the web but it’s not really true. Most screen readers don’t even support the attribute and the ones that do, rarely do so by default.

From a SEO perspective, while Google has said they can handle multiple title tags on a page, Bing identifies it as an error.

Thanks for any guidance on this,

    Pat

  • Hi Pat,

    Thank you for your question.

The title attribute is still recommended for the most broad SVG support. https://www.deque.com/blog/creating-accessible-svgs/

Thanks for responding. There’s some suggestions in that blog post that go against w3c guidance on the matter. They’re now pretty clear that you can have 0 title tags and that you shouldn’t include them if they contain redundant information. But no big deal, I certainly don’t want to argue over such a minor thing. Anyhow, thanks again for responding, always nice to see from a plugin author. Keep up the good work at StudioPress…love your stuff.

So the fact that Bing is reporting this as a High Severity Issue I should just ignore?

    Hi there,

    Thank you for your question.

Bing is probably flagging this in error, because titles are valid in SVGs.

Thank you and enjoy your day!
