Recently our main site got attacked to the extent where it went down, I run routinely checks daily using your plugin and it would take some time but always show the results however now it takes longer and shows an error and no results when it gets to the malware scan, I looked at the log and it shows ‘Scanned contents of 3191 additional files at 0.82 per second’, we have a dedicated server of which only this site and another is on. I tried enabling remote scanning but that hasn’t made any difference, can anyone help with this kind off issue. I am using the latest version of wordpress and all plugins/themes etc are up-to-date.

    Hi Gerroald,
Sorry for the late reply, yes I took a look at that and tried some of the suggestions but no luck, I also tried the wordfence assistant plugin but again no luck. Its strange as it used to work.

    thanks

    Hey @gab1982,

My apologies for the delayed response.

Can you try increasing your max_execution_time and let me know if it helps? Your local value 0 according to the PHP configuration information in the Diagnostics report.

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/scan/troubleshooting/#adjust-the-max-execution-time

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gerroald,
Setting it to 15 didn’t fix it but then I set it according to this ‘Go back to the “Scan Options” and the section “Performance Options” and set the “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to about 80% of that value. So if it’s 90, try setting the option to 75.’ which then fixed the issue.

    thanks for the help.
    Graham
