• I get this email about once or twice a day.
I checked with my web hosting company and they narrowed it down to the Post SMTP plugin.

  • You have used [email protected] somewhere in your settings.
Have you included it in a BCC or CC somewhere in your settings?
Do you have a plugin that is sending out an email on a regular basis (i.e. like a WordFence report that goes out once or twice a day and in WordFence you have the report destination set to [email protected]

Take a look at the email log and check the body of the message that is being sent (switch on your logging if it isn’t switched on).
What is the email being sent?

If it was Post SMTP that had a BCC or CC set up, every single email that was sent from your site would have a return from @example.com
That suggests you have a plugin that is sending out regular emails, and it’s trying to send it to [email protected]

Check the logs and let us know what you find.
