Polylang 2.6 and 2.6.1 replacing images with old or missing ones

    Polyang 2.6.(1) is replacing images with older images and causing page not found errors by replacing images with links to old images that are no longer on the server

    This is mostly happening in sliders where i’ve replaced images over the years, but also in simple page builder images where i’ve duplicated the layout and then changed the images afterwards.

    Replacing the slider images does not work, and if i go to Polylang string translations, I can neither delete the entry or edit the translation.

    I hope this makes sense.

    I’ve tried several approaches to fixing this issue, but none have worked.

    Today I tried once again deleting the Slider Image Links from the Strings translations, and now my testimonials and other text blocks are being replaced with various URLs in both languages.

    I’m surprised this is not being reported more. I’m seing it on various sites on which I’ve been using Polylang for a while.
