    Hi Peter,

I have created a data project with a page. Are you able to take the editable data project page and post it to a webpage, with something like short code? I would like it available from the web view, not just the menu.

    Hi Randi,

I like data(base) administration in the WordPress dashboard ?? as I think it is more safe. So far I have not planned taking the editable part of the project to a webpage. But I’m getting thuis question more often. I’ll do some research on it to get an idea of the consequences and come back to you. Is that okay for you?

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter

I would love to have this feature as well. I just discovered your plugin and it’s just what I need to help reduce costs for my not-for-profit clients. Thank you for creating it! I appreciate the work that goes into it. For my purposes, the editable tables on the front end would be protected and only accessible by certain users.

    Thanks very much,
    Lucy

    Hi Lucy,

I’ll need some time to do some research on this topic. I’ll see what I can do and come back to you.

Thank you for your input! ??

    Hi Randi and Lucy,

I released version 2.5.0 which allows you to add data management to your web pages using shortcodes. Please check the online help that comes with the plugin to see how it works.

Hopes this helps you both. Let me know if you need help or additional features.

Thank you both for your input! ??

    Best regards,
    Peter

Peter! You are awesome. I look forward to using this new feature.

    Thank you so much,
    Lucy

    Hi Peter
I’ve been testing the plugin with front-end admin pages for editing tables. I’m able to view the table on the web page, but I get a permissions error when attempting to edit the table. I suspect this is nothing to do with the plugin but with the system settings. I’ve got the system report if you need to have a look at that.

Any help is appreciated so that I can get this working on my client’s website.

    Thanks very much,
    Lucy

    Hi Lucy,

Can you please send me the system report? I’m curious what the course of this problem is.

Which theme are you using? I had some problems with some themes during testing as well. Have you tested it with other themes?

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter

It’s a custom theme by another developer on a Windows server – my sites usually use themes from Envato. Here’s the report from the client site:

    Hi Lucy,

Where and when you get the error? And which error exactly do you get? Can you provide a screenshot?

If you turn on WP debug mode, do you get a stack trace? That might be helpful.

Have you tested with other themes? The styling and/or parameters used in a theme can collapse with the styling and/or parameters of the plugin. In that case you might not able to use this plugin feature. Sorry if that’s case!

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
I did have the enum error on line 74 but after reading , it’s gone..
My problem is changing the heading on the web page table !! can’t seem to get them to show the Titles that i wrote eg :”student_date_of_birth” : “Date Of Birth”
It still shows “student_date_of_birth”, after hours of trying !!!
To keep me from going insane !! can you help fix this PLEASE !!

    Hi David,

What arguments are you using in your shortcode?
    [wpdadiehard table_name=”customers”]
[wpdadiehard project_id=”1″ page_id=”1″] <– use this to change labels

Labels can be set only for project pages. In the next release you will be able to define them on one location for all pages. Version 2.5.1 however does not yet support that feature.

    Does this help?

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
No i did not use this short code !
In fact I think that an extra explication on how to use short codes would enlighten many , using your plugin (which is fantastic ) but has a lack of explications , anyway for me !! A 68 year old software engineer !!!

    Best regards,

    David

    (@peterschulznl)

    Hi David,

Terribly sorry it’s not working for you! You posted your question in “Data management on web page”, that’s why I thought you were using shortcode wpdadiehard . If not you must be using shortcode wpdataaccess.

    The problem is similar:
    [wpdataaccess table=”customers”]
[wpdataaccess pub_id=”17″] <– use this to change labels

To do so you’ll need to create a publication. There is a video in the plugin help. See: “Data Publisher – Video Tutorials (TIP)” below “Data Publication”. The video is created with an older version of the plugin and does not demostrate how to change labels. Please follow these additional steps after creating a publication:
    – Edit your publication
    – Click on “Format Columns”
    – Change your labels
    – IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to click “OK” after changing your labels
    – IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to click “Save Changes To Database”
    – Test your publication

I’m working on an update that will make this process much simpler and more transparant. I will need to update some videos after that. For now I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Honestly your plugin is sensational, BUT, you as an engineer you must try and “go down” a level or two !!! Ask me how a Radio, TV , or any other radio system works and im certain to know, but if i have to explain it to a NERD (like me) i certain he would not understand !! (no offence) .. Now what im trying to achieve, is a client portal !!.. When using your plugin .. And only have the client alter, certain data and eventually make online orders, and follow them (NOT PAY) .. As we only have four or five articles Woo or others are far to complicated to do this .. Your plugin will certainly do the job.. Im working on a localhost for the moment and have loaded/unloaded your plugin maybe 5 or 6 times … but im getting there ..

    Best regards,

    David
