• Trying to login to my WordPress site, either from GoDaddy or just using wp-admin and I get 403 Forbidden.

I’ve tried disabling all of my plugins via cPanel. I’ve deleted my .htaccess file. I’ve searched through all of my permissions. Everything seems in order. Though there are a lot of folders and files, it is possible I missed something.

Not sure what to do from here. I can’t get into my WordPress dashboard to do anything from there.

Is there anything else I can do from cPanel to try and solve this? Or any other strategies.

GoDaddy is going to charge me for an expert if I can’t figure this out myself.

  • This is a permissions issue probably with the wp-admin directory. Follow this article for instructions how to fix it. https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-403-forbidden-error-in-wordpress/

Hope this helps. Once you’ve found a fix kindly tag the thread resolve.

I had already gone through that article and tried everything.

At your recommendation I double checked permissions in the wp-admin folder.

By my best assessment all of the permissions are correct.

I am doing this through GoDaddy’s cPanel. Perhaps I will try downloading a FTP software like FileZilla.

Is there a waiting time between when I change a file/permission in cpanel before it updates on the site? Perhaps I am just moving too quick?

    Anyone have any other thoughts?

There should be no waiting time. Yes, I would try through an FTP program like FileZilla and see if you get an error when changing permissions share that information with GoDaddy and see what they say. If you do not get an error let us know here and we will see what we can do to help you further.

Hi Davood, I encountered this issue recently and I was able to solve it. If you had a cache plugin installed. Check your wp-content folder for any cache php file(in my case it was wp-cache-config.php) and delete it. I hope it helps.
