Cart doesn’t close when Continue Shopping clicked

Hi, when I first add an item to the cart and then click “Continue Shopping”, the cart stays open until I then click the little cross to close it. This only happens whilst I am still on the shop and only for the first item added.

Also, is there a way to have the cart close and continue shopping by itself when all items are removed from it? Seems pointless to keep it open and wait for the user to click the close cross, when it is empty anyway.
