Plesk error: Broken Website
-
I know this isn’t a Plesk site, but the error is with the WordPress Toolkit and the installation of WordPress. The boss asked me to make some changes to a couple pages and I went to do that, but it says my WordPress is broken, even shows a cute skull with a flower on it’s head instead of the snapshot like it did the other day.
The URL still works, the site is still up, but I cant get into the WP instance to edit anything. I tried to install the WordPress classic editor, as mentioned in the ‘READ THIS FIRST’ post, but it errors with ‘ID 16:’ and i can’t see the rest of the message because it runs out of characters.
I’m sure I need to reinstall WordPress, but that scares the crap out of me, because this is a live site, and if i install WordPress, is it going to break the whole thing? i might be able to get away with it if i do it in the middle of the night, so long as i fix it before morning.
I’ve backed up the database, but I don’t have a recent backup of the website, because of poor management on my part, tbh.
I’ve copied the httpdocs folder, thinking maybe i could restore the old one and then dump the files from the copy to fix it, but what if it’s a file in that folder that is causing the problem? And since WordPress somehow hides all the data, maybe in the database, I can’t even find the pages in the directory structure to manually edit them and make the boss’s changes.
I haven’t made any changes to the config, and the last time anyone was in the site was our contracted web developers (who we have used up the time with, though i will call them if necessary), and they made our changes just fine. that was about a week ago.
So i guess my question is: what are the proper steps i need to take to fix the thing?
