The AMP.dev website suggests some performance tweaks; are there any features that you think we could benefit from using above and beyond the WordPress plugin?

I’m thinking of things like preconnect, etc, or is all of this preconfigured?

While pages delivered from the AMP cache are very fast, pages served direct from my origin are often slower than my non-AMP sites. Often taking .5 seconds longer to start rendering. (Not the end of the world, but it’s annoying scoring 99 on PSI instead of 100) ??

    Thanks in advance.

Most of the optimizations here are being done by the plugin already. The preloading of hero images is not done by the plugin automatically because it is dependent on the theme being used.

One optimization that will be done in the future is the elimination of the AMP boiler plate, which is a piece of markup that hides the page until it is fully rendered. This implementation of this issue will enable the elimination of the boilerplate, which will probably give you your .5 seconds back ??

    Hi Alberto,

Cool answer! Don’t get me wrong, I love AMP and am fully invested in it.

I did read about the AMP Optimizer removing the boilerplate, etc, but I’m going to wait for you guys to implement it.

Thanks for the speedy reply – you are the best team on WordPress when it comes to being responsive. ????
