Comments not being emailed

  • I have posted about this elsewhere but it was an old thread, and I thought I’d start a new one as the problem is really making me cheesed off. I’ve not had WordPress for long, but it’s stopped emailing comments to me. I’ve tried disabling all plugins (except Spam Karma) and I’ve changed the email address that they should be sent to, and I’m getting nothing. I did find a thread somewhere on this forum where other people had had the same problem, but I can’t find it again now. If anyone has any ideas I would be most grateful!

    Ask you host if they have changed or updated anything like PHP, for example.

    I’ve had problems with emails. Most of the time I get notified when I get a comment but sometimes the only way I find out that I’ve got a comment is by looking in the edit section. It seems to happen when someone comments on an old post.
    Any ideas?

    I have this same problem. I get sporadic notification. What did macmanx mean by “did they change PHP”? If they have, what can be done to fix the problem?

    Just email your host and ask them if they’ve updated anything. Sometimes updates can break certain functions, such as outgoing email. Yes, most of these issues can be fixed, but you’ll have to let us know the specifics before anyone can start thinking of a solution.

    I get sporadic email notification that I have a comment. I have the box checked for notification. I’d say I get about 50% of the notices. The rest just never show up. I checked the “junk” mail to see if they ended up there, but nothing. Sometimes they appear hours after the comment was posted. Sometimes not at all. Its really puzzling.
    I’ll try asking the host if they have changed something that might make it work only part of the time.
