I’m looking to merge a dev site using Events manager back to the live site but don’t want to overwrite the live EM tables. Is all of the EM functionally contained in the WP_EM_***** tables or is it all over the database?

  • No, it’s also in wp_posts and wp_postmeta, as WP uses those tables always to create any post etc. And if you have been using images, those files need to be moved via FTP as well.

Importing tables therefore does not work for EM. You will lose data: links between events, locations, post ID, authors, bookings will be lost, because the IDs differ from the old and new database.

Only if you clone all your tables, you can move data without loss across servers.

WP assigns a new (incremented) ID to each entry/post. If you copy a SQL table, that exact old data will be “pushed” into the new table – still containing only the old data and ID’s.

OK, Thanks. I’ve cloned the respective tables on a test and this has worked fine.
