• Hi there developers,

Polylang is an awesome plugin that really helps my site with the multilingual problems.

However, as time has passed, having a domain that hosts two languages seems to be excruciating for marketing and independent management.

So what to do if I want to undo Polylang, extract the content of one specific language and pull them out completely to another domain? Polylang initially sets predefining strings to differentiate one language from another. For example, using EN and CN together, predefining strings differentiate the two languages. But if you disable Polylang the plugin, all the posts and content just mix together in a messy pit.

    Ideas?

    Thanks,
    Oakley Sun

    Hello,

I am not sure to understand exactly what you want.

If you want to remove one language, you need to manually delete all the content in this language, because removing Polylang does not delete any content. Then go to Languages Settings > Tools and check the option to delete teh Polylang data. Finally go to the plugins list, deactivate and delete (red link) Polylang.

If you want to move your content to another domain, you can use the multiple domains capability of Polylang: https://polylang.pro/doc/url-modifications/#subdomains-name-and-domains

    Hey, @chouby

The method under seems helpful, but if I choose that, does that mean the content of a specific language would be moved to that subdomain’s directory automatically?

Because I already chose the “The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks”, now my Chinese version is linked as xxx.com/cn/my-post

Plus, is it possible to just move the Chinese content out and then disable Polylang? Is there some way to do it in bulk or do I have to do it manually?

    Thanks,
