    Hi,
today we released the version 6.0.0 of Newsletter. This is a major release with a totally refactored composer and a number of improvement on composer blocks.

We did out best to keep the compatibility, but if you experience something getting wrong, please open a support request here explaining as detailed as possible the problem.

Other core features (delivery engine, subscription, user management and so on) have not been changed.

We expect on next days to release minor fixes to the blocks and probably few new blocks for the composer.

    Thank you for your collaboration!

  • Thank you ! I will update and report any problem.

I have installed the updated and getting this error when trying to edit. I created a duplicate of a previous newsletter and unable to edit any of the blocks. I have a lot of content that is the same from each newsletter, hence duplicating and just adding new content. Would rather not have to start again if possible.

This is deprecated block version and cannot be edited. Please replace it with a new one.

one simple issue — when adding a text block that contains links, I see no way to make the link text into a URL as was easy before. I know that most email readers will properly identify URL text and light it up, but I’m wondering where this simple feature has gone in the text block editing window.

Hi, the text block should show the classic WP editor (a bit reduced in functionalities). Do you see a simple text area? Pay attention there is a text block and an HTML block.

    Stefano.

Previously, the text block editor allowed more control over the text in it’s block. I could choose colors, choose text to make into a link, but those choices are gone. If, instead of choosing a text block to drag, I choose an HTML block to drag, it requires me to write my own html code for that block.

Here is what the simple text block looks like to me.

As you can see, no ability to choose a color or make a link.

I am using the classic editor on this site, not Gutenberg; does that make a difference?

Same issue. Reduced functions in the text block editor. No hyperlink function. When I copy and pasted text that had a hyperlink in it, I could click on this and edit the hyperlink as usual. There just is no function to add a hyperlink and my client is not savvy in HTML so this makes it not user friendly to the everyday person wanting to create a newsletter.
Using classic editor not Gutenberg and using TinyMCE advanced editor.

Hi guys, you’re right. In my test env there was a extension plugin for the classic editor which adds few buttons not available otherwise.

I’m adding the correct configuration to the text block editor (actually I’m trying to enable the full wp editor…).

Will release a fix today with at least the color picker and the link button. Just the time to find the correct configuration and test it on a clean blog.

Thank you for your support, Stefano.

Pleased to know I am not crazy after all. Looking forward to an update.

Check version 6.0.3 IF it solves (maybe even partially) the editor issue.

    Thank you, Stefano.

    Stefano,

Are there plans to add the new composer block to Autoresponders?

Right now we’re working on integrating it on Automated, which is the hardest task, then we add it to Autoresponder as well, probably removing the “series template” letting a free creation of the emails for each step.

We have not a release date.

    Stefano.

    Stefano, understood.

Is it safe to assume that maybe within 2 months, this will be available in Autoresponder as well?

Hi, since they’re commercial addon we need to move the discussion in another forum, this is only to support the Newsletter plugin published in the WP.org repo. We’ve just release this major update and have not a date to share about updates to other addon.

    Thank you, Stefano.

I can confirm that the ability to add links to text in the text block, as well as assign color, seems to be working. Thank you.
