Shipping price is fixed at 6% of total!!!

Getting the shipping settings right can be tricky! What you’re describing should be possible with standard WooCommerce.

Can you please share a screenshot of your shipping settings? Specifically, I’d like to see the shipping zones as set under WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping, as well as the settings for the shipping method that you’re using.

I have tried changing the shipping settings in a number of different ways including changing the flat rate rules with advanced settings but it seems that any setting still has a 6% shipping rate. Really strange.

As for products, these 3 URLs are water tanks that aren’t very heavy, but cost a decent amount to ship due to volume and a stove that is quite heavy. I have tried creating shipping classes for these products and several others but to no avail. As it is now, there aren’t any shipping classes.

Could you please share the flat rate settings for the US > Flat Rate zone?

Also, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.

Thanks for the ping! It looks like this notification slipped through the cracks.

Given that you’ve set the flat rate cost to 50, there’s no reason it should be changing to 6%. It shouldn’t even know how to do that.

I’ve checked through the system status log and most things look great. The biggest potential issue is that the theme has a large number of template overrides, including the checkout page.

While I suspect it’s the theme and/or the template overrides, this could also be caused by a plugin. To make sure you have as much information as possible, here’s the information for a full conflict test – though I’d start with the theme:

• Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
• Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
• Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

It sounds like a staging site could be a good idea. If your host doesn’t offer that option, we recommend WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.
