• Hi,
I’ve got a few client sites using this plugin and they all want to move to PHP7.2, but the compatibility checker says it’s not possible. I know someone mentioned 6 months ago these errors would be addresses, but I can’t see any movement and need to let the clients know if Gigpress will be possible to use moving forwards.

    Many thanks,
    J

  • Any timeline on this please?

This is now generally considered the recommended version of php, so it’s rather disappointing that ModernTribe is taking so long updating this plugin to allow us to benefit from the php upgrade.

Also wondering about this. Can we please get a timeline on a plugin update for php compatibility?

    Hi folks!

I just tried the GigPress plugin out on a WordPress install running on PHP 7.2.0, and I’m not seeing any issues on my end.

When running the “php compatibility checker”, I do see some notifications generated. However, these are all in a file that is meant for older versions of PHP, and not the actual plugin code.

The compatibility checker states the following:

    Limitations & Caveats
This tool cannot detect unused code paths that might be used for backwards compatibility, potentially showing false positives. We maintain a whitelist of plugins that can cause false positives.
This tool does not execute your theme or plugin code, so it cannot detect runtime compatibility issues.

What you are seeing is a “false positive”. I think it’s fine to upgrade your PHP to 7.2.0 with Gigpress installed. However, we always recommend testing big changes like this on a staging server before implementing on your live site to make sure.

    Hope that helps!

    Sky
