    Hi there

I set Wordfence a couple of years ago to automatically block users with non-existent names to be automatically blocked. Additionally, every couple of days I manually made the blockades permanent.

That was running well, probably blocking thousands of culprits, sometimes a good number a day. In the last couple of months, though probably as a result of measures including using additional security plugins, there has been a drastic fall in attempted logins, the last logged on 23 January and bot-based sending of mail from the contact page.

In the last 2 weeks, including today, some attempted logins were made, but as I went to Wordfence to permanently block them, I noticed the latest reported blocked attempts were not on the “Current blocks …” page, including today’s Wordfence had alerted me to.

Since I have not noticed this before, why would these blocks, including today’s “A user with IP addr 180.149.228.249 has been locked out from signing in or using the password recovery form for the following reason: Used an invalid username ‘Mya’ to try to sign in.” not be logged on this page, the attempt having been made about 11 hours ago, before that, one on 17th April and 1 Feb.?

I have not changed Wordfence settings for a long time.

    Regards

  • Hey @xprt007,

Can you please navigate to Wordfence > All Options > Firewall Options > Brute Force Protection > Amount of time a user is locked out and see if the value set there explains the time the users were locked out?

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
