Product Specification Charts/Tables

    I am seeking direction with creating specification charts (tables) on product pages.
    I am just starting out with WooCommerce and the available options are overwhelming. I have learned about variables and grouped items. I also learned about size charts. None of these do what I am hoping to accomplish.

    Here is my hierarchy:
    * category
    **sub-category
    ***model
    ****Sku

    The issue is in the model to sku range. I am fine setting up the model as a grouped item where the skus appear as the options for that model. However, I don’t want them listed down the page as a bunch of selection options. I want to put them in a table that includes all of their dimensions and specifications. For example, the table might include weight, outer diameter, inner diameter, load capacity, color, and position. These are not variables as each sku has a specific set of specifications.
    I assume I need a plugin to add the custom fields. I assume I may need a plugin to create the tables. So I come to the hive mind for suggestions on which plugins to use and am hoping there might be one that allows me to do both.

    And I prefer not to use a size chart as I would then need to hand create a new size chart for every single model that needs to be updated every time we add a new sku. I am hoping to find an enhancement to the grouping capability.

    I have not found a solution yet.
    I did find ways in which I can create a table for each model and then load that table into WP. This works but it prevents some search functions and is a lot of added work. It’s also not as clean in regards to responsive layouts.
    I also found a couple of plugins, like Barn2Media’s WooCommerce Product Table. This will allow people to sort and filter. However, it is really intended to run separately from the model page. Thus does not allow for the data charts on the product model page.
    I was able to add a lot of custom variable fields to a model and they output in a tab on the model page. However, they output as lists in rows or lists in columns, not as a table.
    So I put WooCommerce on hold. Since then I have been considering deleting WooCommerce and either building my own product page templates that include tables or paying a company to perform that design work for us.
    It’s really a bummer that I wasn’t able to get Woo to work the way we desired.
    If it helps, the goal was to look similar to what we provide in our print catalogs.

    @ccsachs Sorry to hear that you may be moving away from WooCommerce. The plugin itself does provide the basics to get a store up and running in a short amount of time, but it is not possible to have a solution for everyone’s needs built in. What you need may need to be something that is custom built to suit your needs. If you decide to stick with WooCommerce, we suggest reaching out to some developers to determine if they can create something for you:
