• I was trying to do the auto update via my host but that failed. So I decided to do it via the zip file.

Upgrading from any previous WordPress to 2.8.1:

    1. Delete your old WP files, saving ones you’ve modified.
    2. Upload the new files.
    3. Point your browser to /wp-admin/upgrade.php.
    4. You wanted more, perhaps? That’s it!

When I click on the link for /wp-admin/upgrade.php

The page is completely blank except for the wordpress logo at the top and a >.

Is there some step I’m missing so that this upgrade will work via FTP?

    Thanks so much!

    This is solved.

I had to add in some info from the godaddy.com panel to have it load.

May I ask what info? I’ve been trying to upgrade to 2.8 and also to delete some unneeded plugins, but I’m getting an error message saying “There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.” but all the settings seem correct. I am able to log in and out of the dashboard.

    Much obliged!
