cannot upload image

Hello, can somebody help please.
I have uploaded wordpress 2.8.1. Somehow, I find that I cannot upload picture to my post.
Everything seemed okay to the point that a picture is uploaded. It is captured in the gallery or media library, but the problem is: no pictures, but just an outline box…. and in the post, is shown the same.
