I have been trying for 2 days, and I still can’t edit my templates. For some reason, there is no button for me to save what I’ve edited in my edit themes page. I was told by someone in the forums to get my web host to set the files and theme folder’s permission to 755. This was done, but I still can’t save what I’ve edited. If someone has any idea why this is, please let me know. Thanks.

  • ask them to set up “Recursive” permission to your theme folder. If this does not work, ask to set up 777 permissions….

If this still not help you, ask them to check the ownership of the files. It should be user:user (not necessary, but just a hack)

Perhaps one of your plugins is messing up your admin pages.

    Deactivate all plugins.
Test to see if Save button re-appears

If button re-appears, a plugin is causing the button to disappear.

    • Re-activate ONE plugin.
    • Test again.
    • Repeat until the button disappears again. When it disappears, the last plugin you activated was causing the problem

If button doesn’t re-appear after deactivating all plugins.

    • At least you know it’s not a plugin. And we can troubleshoot further

    Ok,

I haven’t tried the different permissions yet, but I have tried the plugins. After I deactivated all my plugins the button still didn’t appear, so it’s not those.
