• Last fall I tried using various Beta versions of Gutenberg and found it to be an utterly clumsy, unintuitive disaster. I decided to give the thing a little time to mature and proceeded to install the Classic Editor on all my sites. 4 months and a number of WP revisions later, I figured the block editor may have gotten to the point where it actually is a pretty useable tool. I decided to give it another try on a new site I’m building. Uh-uh — it is STILL a wonky, embarrassingly unintuitive mess. Back to the Classic Editor — and a good pagebuilder plugin/theme — I go! Maybe someday someone gets a clue at WP that they need to WATCH some people try to do more than the most elementary stuff with it. And maybe then a light will come on in someone’s head that they need to bring some people on board who actually understand how to build a good UI for a complex editing tool and they’ll revamp the thing all over again. I used to think WP was cool. Now it feels like I’m FIGHTING WordPress every day. Elementor, Divi, et. al: you have nothing to worry about. It’s going to take a LOOOOONG time before Gutenberg threatens your survival.
