Hello there, I’m hoping someone can help me out with my setup. I’m sure it’s something simple that I’m just over-looking.

So here’s my situation. I have a simple WooCommerce site, and I’m using the Fedex plugin offered by Woocommerce as well.

I added all my products, weights and dimensions, (in the Parcel Packing Method: I chose the Recommended option “Pack into boxes with weights and dimensions”) then I added all my shipping boxes available to the fedex plugin, one of the problems I’m running into, is that I’m not comfortable with the auto-selection of which boxes to use in order to ship certain items. In theory/ or in paper it makes sense, you should be able to fit in all these products based on their sizes and weight into this (auto-selected) size box, but in reality it doesn’t really work. Unless there was a way tie in which boxes are allowed to be used on certain product classes, then I could see this option being usable, however, the way it’s currently set up, I’m not seeing a way to do this.

So instead I’m trying the other option (Pack items Individually). For the most part I think this option will work for me. Because most of the products I sell in my cart (big and bulky) require their own box anyway. Of course, I also do have very few products that are small items that would fit in any of the other boxes if bought together with another item. So I’m hoping there’s another way to categorize these small items as exceptions, so these can be shipped together with other items if they are ordered together? In other words, buyer shouldn’t have to pay extra if they added these items to their existing order. They should only be charged if they order these small items alone.

I feel like this would be a common situation. Small items like patches, stickers and t-shirts, that would probably fit in any box with any other product. I’m searching now for a few days, but not finding anyone else talking about this scenario.

Hoping someone can help me figure this one out.

    Hi there,

I’m using the Fedex plugin offered by Woocommerce

This is the forum for the WooCommerce Services plugin which does not handle live rates for FedEx. If you have an active license for the FedEx plugin please open up a support ticket so the WooCommerce.com Support team can help you with your FedEx issues.

    Thanks
