• Hi!
I would be extremly happy if someone can help me with my problem. I have a travel blog and I would like to change the permalinks to: Month and name /index.php/2009/07/sample-post/
But when I do this and go to a page this comes up:

    CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

I would be extremly happy if you could help me step by step, because I don’t know much about programing, actually nothing.

    Thank you so much!

  • i’d like to help you, but your permanlinks seems a little strange, why did you add index.php in the beginning.

My first chocie would be only %postname% but I read somewhere that it wasn’t recommended. But when you go to “Permalinks Settings” on the menu to your left index.php/2009/07/sample-post/ seems to me to be the best alternative.

    Thank you – whuisonline

all right, we keep the current setting.

please go to the permalinks settings page, and check if there is something about .htaccess below.

I can’t find anything about .htaccess on the permalinks setting page (on my wp blog).

If the default setting works but the customized one doesn’t work, it’s probably the problem of mod_rewrite. If you blog is hosted by an Apache sever, you should make sure this mod is enabled. If it’s an IIS, I have to say sorry because I know nothing about it.

How do I make mod_rewrite enabled?

There is a post about how to check if mod_rewrite is enabled. Make sure you are working on an Apache server.
