When I publish a post, each time, I gert an email:

    InstagramAPI\Response\ConfigureResponse: Caption too long.

I tried reducing the number of characters in the plugin options from 2200 down to 1500 then 1000 but nothing works.

Anyway what is the “Caption” in this error message? It it about the post content or an image caption?

    Hi,

    Please reduce it near 200
This is about your post content, URL, tags etc.

    Hi,
thank you for your response. Yes, it does work with settings on 200 characters.

Although I still don’t understand as the Instagram post contains not only the “custom message” set in the WP admin’s post, but also 1200 characters of the post’s content (not 200).

But it works, so thank a lot for the tip and a great plugin!

    Hi guys,

I had the same issue, which is resolved by the hints here.
    Thanks a lot!

But I guess the misunderstanding is that Instagram allows 2200 characters per post but in the settings of the plugin the number of words can only be limited.

Number of words in Instagram post. Enter 0 for no description.

Maybe in the plugin it should be changed to characters to avoid confusion!

    Best regards,
    Oliver

It worked instantly when set to 200.
I found the post published with featured image and everything else.
Here the test (in total, 208 words – 1366 characters):

    BPA FREE
    #BisfenoloA?#BPAFREE?#giocattoli#plastica?#scientifico

Actually the article link is in text format, wp made it active when i published this post…

Maybe this could be out topic, but as I found a bit boring to read my post in the Instagram context, I looked for some point of view about the length of a post, I think this article could be useful:
    https://www.sharethis.com/best-practices/2019/01/what-is-the-instagram-character-limit/

I would also strongly suggest extending the 200 characters to 2200, 200 is less than Twitter! I think that would benefit all users thus your plugin massively!

    still not working(

@slavaflorida You should post the kind of error you get, to be useful…

@radicalfire8 In the plugin setting 200 is referred to words, not characters.

@lucianogian I want to post below text and I get the error it’s too long, so I don’t believe it’s 200 words.

‘When you’re starting to invest, the stock market seems intimidating. Overcome those initial fears and discover it doesn’t have to be complicated at all! #investing #stockmarket #blogger #personalfinance’

I have followed the advice. Some of my posts publish – others don’t. This seems to be a problem even with short posts. It seems quite arbitrary.

I thought the plugin took the first 2200 and the ignored the rest?

A post with 440 words (including image tags, etc) and some hashtags – bringing it to no more than 500 words is not publishing. The can’t be right.

I even tried the ‘post to instagram, custom message.’ Makes no difference – these posts are not making it to instagram.
