Same settings, all other plugins disabled, same issue. The image does import to the body of the post, but it will not import at all if I have any setting for the post thumbnail. I can actually watch it create the post and then delete it.

1) Which exactly menu item you have selected in “Post thumbnails”?
2) Is your /wp-content/uploads folder writable?

1) “Generate from Media Attachment” currently, but the same thing happens no matter what I select – except “Do not generate”.
2) Yeah. The site is on WP Engine. I ran their script to correct permissions just in case, and I did a test upload.

It seems that your server is unable to download / save he image. There could be two 2 possible issues:

1) PHP GD library is not installed at your server.
2) Your /wp-content/uploads folder is not writable.

If I turn off the option to set the thumbnail image the post gets imported and because I have the “Media Attachments” option set to “Insert attachments at the top of the post” it embeds the image from Instagram in the post: https://kingarchdev.wpengine.com/as-a-part-of-our-efforts-to-always-be-educating-our-staff-we-had-guests-from-the-upstate-new-york-mason-contractors-association-of-america-mcaa-to-do-a-five-part-series-on-masonry-design-we-really/

The image does actually appear to be stored on my web server, though. So there seems to be some sort of an issue with the “Post thumbnails” option.

Is there a hook I can use to run some of my own code after a post has been saved? I’ll pull the image from the body and set it as the thumbnail manually.

Hooks are not implemented in CyberSEO Lite. But you my try to edit the code. The code you are asking about is located in line #1558 (it adds a new post). Lines #1569-#1577 generate, insert the featured image (post thumbnail) and delete the post if featured image generation fails.
