Gutenberg Blocks: Open in New Tab Slider Turns Off
-
Since the transition to Gutenberg blocks, I’ve been noticing that the “open in new tab” slider that I turn on for external links has been turning off at some point after I save my posts.
When I initially converted my old posts to blocks, the links that were originally set to open in new tabs began opening in the same tab. I went through every external link on my site and turned the slider on, saving as I went.
A few weeks later, I noticed that some links weren’t opening in a new tab, so I completed the process again. Some of the sliders were still on, and some were off.
This has also been happening with new posts. Today I published a post with a lot of external links. After I published, all but two of the sliders had turned off. I turned them back on and they seem to be working right now, but I won’t be surprised when some of them stop working in a few days like all of my other links!
I’m using the Extra theme (Elegant Themes), hosted on Bluehost, and the plugins I have installed are: a3 Lazy Load, AccessPress Pinterest, Advanced Ads, Bloom, Cookie Notice, Facebook Widget, Google Analytics Dashboard for WP, Hummingbird, Smush, Social Warfare, Speed Booster Pack, Stop Spammers, and UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore. Everything is updated.
Does anyone have any idea why this keeps happening? It’s becoming very time-consuming to keep auditing every single link, and the sliders turning off is killing my bounce rate.
