• I have been at this all day. I can not get the record to save when using the signup. I have deleted the plugin, reinstalled and everything. I just setup a page with the shortcode for signup that takes you to the thank you page. When I look at the participant list, there is nothing there. What can I look at that may be causing the problem? I have deactivated other plugins, cleared cache, etc… I can manually add records and they show in another page with the list. This plugin seems to be what I am looking for if I can get past the beginning. It seems very promising for what I want.

  • I’ve previously had this problem.

Are you logged in as a administrator or subscriber when trying the signup.

In the Datbase fields you have the option to make the fields read only. If you have set those fields as read-only you will not be able to write to them in subscbriber mode. I just unticked the read-only option and it sorted the problem for me.

    Hope that helps.

I thought you were on to something. My login had admin and subscriber. I took off the subscriber but it still did not work. I can fill in all the fields that are required. None of the fields are read only. They are only required. I have them as sortable, csv and signup checked. So further looking into it, the debug log, the sql statement is to update the record with the record ID = 10. That is the count it is on now. It will never “update” because it was never added. Somehow something is stuck and it think i got to this point by being able to add a record when I first log in. When I added the record, I entered the fields, hit the submit and it just sat there. I closed the page. When I looked in the table it was there. Then when I go to try to add another record, it will not display the signup page. It ends up displaying css script on the page after a minute or two of time. Is this a session id error? In order to be able to try to enter a new record, I have to go delete the previous one just enter. And then I am back to the record never adds, it goes to the thank you page, the debug sql is trying to update a record that was never added. I am hoping this is just a settings error somewhere that someone can help me find. Can it be a plugin conflict? I deactivated all but my 2 main ones, memberpress and the thrive architect.
    Thanks

This is strange… manually added more records. Went to the signup page to try to add another and the sql statement in the debug log still says where ID is 10. How can that be???

I use Memberpress too, but I don’t use site builders. I thought I read that PDB didn’t work too well with site builders but I could be wrong.

I tend to use mostly php to write and retrieve my records and that’s where I came across that problem I told you about.

From what you describe I would think your problem lays outside PDB.

I’ve just bought Roland’s multi search add-on which is pretty cool.

    Hope you solve the problem.

I have gotten closer and yes it is the builder. something with the page theme. It is somewhere between where the submit saves the record and before the thank you message is sent. I wish I knew how to get this right. It works in the theme when I just want to list. It works with just the wordpress page. I am just beginning with php. so i do not know how far I will get with this.
    Thanks.

What is the name of your site?

Why not try just an ordinary WordPress Theme

I’m using MintWP Pro at the moment which is pretty good. It allows you to develop your CSS and php skills.

I use Firefox to inspect and give me the hooks and then I add css to the theme to make the adjustment.

    Cheers

LOL because I do not know what I am doing to begin with!!! I do not know the best route to start! The site is otga.org/home. It still needs a lot of work. I made it this far somehow… I will look into what you have mentioned. thanks.

Using page builders, especially if they use javascript to show the content, can result in forms not working correctly. I don’t know what the specific solution is, but if you can test setting up the page without using the builder you may find it works fine. You can ask the theme developer about how to embed forms, it may be you need to turn some dynamic features of the builder (such as display animation) off.
