• Hi

I’ve been working through some websites to update them to WP 5 Gutenberg and I’m finding that Testimonials is no longer filtering by categories when I insert a short code into the page

It works fine with WordPress 4.x but as soon as I upgrade to 5.x it breaks

Sorry, can’t show you a link as I’m not putting it on my live site

Further. This (and the preg_match bug reported earlier) appears to be something to do with the version of PHP. On my live server I have PHP 7.1.27 and on my test server I have 7.3.1

It looks like something has changed with preg_match between these two versions of PHP which means this plugin no longer works properly.

I can definitely confirm this is the problem. I’ve activated PHP v7.1.26 on my test server and the problem has gone away

I can narrow down the PHP version a little.
PHP v7.2.19 works fine, but uprading to v7.3.6. breaks it.

I can confirm that values are not being saved for the Category Filter when using PHP 7.3.8. It does work under 7.2.21.
