Height of article picture

Hi,
Sorry for my english.
I would like to change the height of article pictures in pages.
I mean this pictures, which will be shown in the header of pages.
I build a child theme, changed the functions.php, tried several plugins,
but the only thing i got is distorted pictures and the height didn’t change.
Are they perhaps any css code or what i have to do?
