Event details page blank in custom theme

For some reason, my event details page is blank for every event (in my custom theme). Everything else is working fine with the plugin, though. So when I click on “Read More,” I just get an empty, white screen. I don’t even see the header or footer for my site, and no code even shows up in the source code for the page.
However, if I switch to the default 2019 theme, the event details page works fine.
I have read something about ensuring that custom post types are supported in my theme. I think they are supported, though, because I am using the custom post types plugin to create other custom post types of my own, and they work fine.
Can someone help me out with what I’m doing incorrectly here? I feel like it has to be something simple that I’m overlooking.

I tried the custom single event file, but I’m still just getting a blank white page when I click on an event.
Since this works fine when tested with other themes, I feel like there has to be something minor that I’m missing here.
And I actually don’t even necessarily need the event details page. Is there a way to disable to hover pop that shows up in the widget when hovering over an event title?
