Using links from my Amazon Associate account, I find that when I try to post the “Text and Image (Enhanced Display)” link to a product on Amazon, it does not work! WordPress wipes-out the new code. A couple of times, I previewed it, then went to edit the other text, but it was gone! This keeps happening. Any solution out there? Surely WordPress — being the industry standard for blogging — can handle an <iframe> tag, right? Boy, I’d sure like that to work!

  • If you’re adding iframe markup, are you using the HTML tab?

    yes.

I’ve not had any problems when adding markup for an an Amazon shop iframe. Could one of your plugins be causing a problem? It might be worth deactivating the lot and see if that has any effect.

Thanks esmi. I really don’t have any plug-ins. Could that be it? Is there a plug-in that I do need?

There may be Amazon-based plugins but be careful – not all plugins are currently compatible with WP 2.8, so check their official compatibility level first. I’ve never used a plugin though. Just pasted in the iframe code by hand.

Ah, I’ve figured out the issue. I had been toggeling from the HTML tab to the Visual tab. I thought that was just a tab choice for viewing, (like a “reveal code” button) but apparently, when you click the Visual tab, all HTML code is removed.

    Hi,

I still have the same problem in wordpress, even in 2.8.1. When I put an iframe code in the HTML tab and I switch to the visual tab it deletes all code. Not very useful for my non-html users. Is there a solution?
    I feel this issue isn’t solved. I have a www.remarpro.com site, no wordpress.com site.

    Tnx in advance,

I had this problem as well (I’m using WordPress 2.8.4.). The iframe code from Amazon would disappear after inserting it into a post under the HTML editor. I found a solution here: https://webwork.onblog.at/en/wordpress/amazon-partnernet-affiliate-links-iframe-wordpress-beitraegen-posts

I inserted the code supplied at the above site into the theme’s function.php file and iframe code now works.

OK, here is my problem. Very similar, I tried the iframe code, and it kept disappearing, so I gave up on it. No biggie. But what the REAL problem now is that an Amazon ad has taken over my Google adsense ad and will not go away!!! I uninstalled the blog/website, removed it from the .fantistico folder, removed it in MySQL, EVERYTHING! And it still keeps coming back!!!! Any ideas? I’m seriously irritated.
