    Hello,
I began setting up Woocommerce and found that it needs Jetpack as part of it’s configuration. I’ve set up a WordPress.com account for it but I’m getting the error “Error Details: The Jetpack server encountered the following client error: Verification secrets not found”.

I’ve disabled all plugins as a first step and it still fails to authenticate. I’ve tried with being logged in to my WordPress.com account and without, I still get the same error. My site is siting on a MS Azure server if that makes any difference. One support item I found is checking your .htaccess file which I assume because I can’t find, MS servers don’t have .htaccess files.

Is there anything you might suggest to get it to authenticate and remove the error?

    Thanks,
    Brett

    Hi there,

Could you please try uninstalling and reinstalling the Jetpack plugin from your Dashboard? To do so, follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins
    2. Deactivate Jetpack (I would deactivate all other plugins as well during this time to make sure there are none that are conflicting with the connection. If the connection works, then you activate your other plugins one by one to see if there is a culprit to the error).
    3. Click the “Delete” link under Jetpack and follow the prompts to confirm
    4. Install the Jetpack plugin once again
    5. Connect Jetpack

Following these steps will clear out existing settings, and allow you to attempt a fresh connection.

Please let me know when you’ve done the above, and I’ll check your connection once again from our end!

    Hello,
Thanks for the reply. Before opening my ticket I did try to delete and re-add the plugin a few times with the same result. The only difference I didn’t try earlier from what you suggested is to install Jetpack while the other are plugins disabled. I just went through that process and came back with the same result. I want to also say I’ve made sure to flush cache before doing the install this evening.

The user account I’m using for WordPress.com is “uccc at mercer-design dot com”.

EDIT: I have tried going the Setup part while logged in to WordPress.com and not logged in. Same result.

    Anything else you might suggest?

    Thanks!
    Brett

    Hello Brett,

Jetpack uses a service called XML-RPC to communicate with your server, and it looks like that might not be working – I’m not able to load the XML-RPC file for your site at all. Normally that file would be found at https://universalccc.com/xmlrpc.php, and if XML-RPC is working correctly that file would show XML?RPC server accepts POST requests only.

Please contact support at your hosting provider and make sure that XML-RPC is enabled on your server. You can see here for more information:
