Various problems since upgrading to 2.8

  • I maintain a bunch of WordPress sites and have noticed problems on some of them since upgrading to 2.8.

    On two sites I can’t drag widgets to the sidebar. I just removed a widget on one and can’t put any new widgets on it or change the order of the widgets. This is particularly bad.

    On 2 sites I’ve noticed that the lightbox plugins no longer work. I’ve tried both versions. Users can click through to the larger image but the lightbox effect is gone.

    On one site I’ve noticed that if I go to the plugin installer and click “Search Plugins” nothing happens. The only ways to install plugins on this site are the Plugin Central plugin or FTP.

    On at least 2 sites the My Link Order plugin doesn’t work. I can’t drag the links around. Ajax not working.

    Has anyone else been noticing odd behavior since upgrading to v.2.8?

    First, I cleared the browser cache.

    On the site where lightbox2 is not working, I tried deactivating all plugins, then activating only each of the lightbox plugins (one at a time) and still neither of them work. I also tried switching browsers. No luck there either.

    On the same site I tried to reinstall 2.8 automatically but when I click the button nothing happens. This is also the site where when I click Search Plugins nothing happens.

    The screen options accessibility trick does save the day on the widget problem (different site).

    Anyway, I’ve got at least a dozen WordPress sites running and I shudder to imagine how many non-billable hours it will take to try to fix these problems. I have to say that I recommend not upgrading to 2.8. 2.7.1 works fine. I’d wait for 2.8.1 and get some feedback on it if you haven’t upgraded yet.

    I agree – DO NOT upgrade. I’m on WP 2.8 and it’s awful. Lightbox is just one big problem. I too have several sites and hundreds of posts – I can not just use another plug in!
