After updating to 2.5.36, the admin dashboard only shows:

All-in-One Event Calendar has been disabled due to an error:

The specified file “default-event-avatar.png” doesn’t exist.

I am not able to revert my website to a previous backup, I’m unable to manually update the plugin, and even removing the plugin via the sftp server didn’t fix it.

edit: After updating to Word Press 5.0.3 via my.wpengine I reverted the website again, and the error has disappeared. I suggest for no one to update the plugin until this error is addressed.

  • Hi @pthomastdd,

Do you remember what WordPress version you used before upgrading?

    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi @pthomastdd,

This issue appears to be file corruption and may be due to a conflict with a 3rd party security plugin.

Generally when there are issues like this you can rename your plugin directory by appending “_baK” to it and your installation will disable and skip the plugin, upon which you can do a reinstall.

If you ever need to do a reinsall, These instructions will preserve your current events:

These instructions will preserve your current events:

    – Perform a complete back up of your database before proceeding further
    – Delete the file uninstall.php from the plugin directory that is currently on the server (found under /wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar). Deleting this file ensures that when you uninstall the current version of the plugin, your event data and calendar settings will be preserved when you delete the plugin (don’t skip this step – it’s important!)
    – Deactivate the All-in-One Event Calendar using your WordPress Dashboard.
    – Delete the All-in-One Event Calendar using your WordPress Dashboard.
    – Database -> wp_options, click option_name to sort and delete everything with ai1ec_, this will delete plugin settings but events will remain in the database.
    – Now install the latest version.
